3rd Digital Defence Symposium
The ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Cybersecurity and Information Centre of Excellence (ACICE) and RSIS | S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies co-hosted the 3rd Digital Defence Symposium from 22 to 23 Jul at The Pan Pacific Singapore.
This year’s symposium brought together over 300 senior defence officials, academics, industry experts as well as partners from 35 countries and international organisations, both within and beyond ASEAN. Participants engaged in discussions on the evolving cybersecurity and information domains, against the backdrop of emerging technologies and rising geopolitical tensions.
At the official dinner hosted by Permanent Secretary for Defence Mr Chan Heng Kee, he highlighted the importance of partnerships between defence and non-defence governmental agencies.
“Within Singapore, we have set up coordination structures for different government agencies to come together to better detect, defend and contain cyber threats. For example, the SAF's The Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore - CSA (CSA) organise a large-scale annual exercise – CIDEX – as part of Singapore's national cyber exercise programme… by breaking down silos and combining strengths across the government, we also have a better chance of detecting and dealing with more sophisticated threats.”
